Local filmmaker / producer Jody Hammond will be showing her documentary, La Mama: An American Nun's Life in a Mexican Prison, at MiraCosta College (3333 Manchester Ave. in Cardiff-by-the-Sea) at 1 p.m. Friday, March 4. The film follows Mother Antonia, who grew up in Beverly Hills and was married and divorced twice before becoming a nun. For the past 30 years, she's served the population at the violent, over-crowded La Mesa Penitentiary in Tijuana and at the age of 80, says she has no plans of quitting any time soon.
