NAE Update

April 2011

The Board of Directors of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) approved a resolution at its semiannual meeting in March calling on the President and Congress to address the national debt in a way that protects and lifts up the poor. (read more)

More than 60,000 people are raped or sexually abused in U.S. prisons each year. Advocate for strong standards against prison rape. The Department of Justice is accepting comments through April 4. (read more and take action)

“It’s in our human nature to want to prepare ourselves – physically, emotionally, spiritually – for what might be ahead,” said Leith Anderson, President of the NAE. The January Evangelical Leaders Survey showed that 65 percent identify with premillennial theology, 13 percent with amillennial and 4 percent with postmillennial. Seventeen percent responded “other.” (read more)

The NAE Generation Forum Project Director is a full-time, at will, exempt professional position. Launched in 2009, the Generation Forum works to mobilize evangelicals toward cooperative efforts and practical solutions that will create an environment where sex is honored, life is cherished, and the number of abortions is reduced. The National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference launched the Cinco de Mayo Prayer Initiative to encourage prayer during the 21 days leading up to May 5th for violence, murder, trafficking, smuggling, kidnapping and drug cartels along the Mexico/U.S. border. (read more)
