From its beginning, The City Club of San Diego has been a key part of the Symposium, having assisted in providing some of its most famous writers, but the Symposium is really the genius of Dean Nelson, a member of PLNU's journalism's faculty and the Symposium's creator.

One of the most significant cultural/literary events in San Diego is The Writer's Symposium by the Sea, sponsored by Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU).

 

That said, this year's Symposium, with perhaps its greatest gathering ever of famous writers and personalities, begins one week from today - Monday, February 19.

 

Please visit the Symposium's Web site, Writer's Symposium by the Sea at Point Loma.edu, and read the names of those writers you will be able to hear next week - it's such an impressive lineup.

 

I'm excited to hear the former UCLA/NBA great, Kareem Abdul-Jabber, a man of profound intellect and insight, and to renew acquaintances with Jane Smiley, a great novelist and Pulitzer Prize winner, who's been a past guest of the City Club.

 

It will be an unforgettable week on campus at PLNU.
