What Does It Mean to Be a Woman?

What is it to be authentically female, to embrace the role of mother (or is there a role to begin with?), and does biology have anything whatsoever to do with what a woman—single or married—ought to do? Both sides—on the one, progressive militant feminists and, on the other, conservative religious traditionalists—miss the forest for the trees.
