Today, October 7th, marks one year since Hamas carried out its terror attacks on Israel. Here at DW, we're recalling the events of that horrific day and speaking with people who witnessed them. The Hamas assault was the deadliest in Israel's history, with more than 1,200 people killed and around 250 taken to Gaza as hostages. Vigils and memorials are being held across Israel to remember those who were killed, and the hostages still held captive by Hamas. Relatives of victims have held a minute of silence at the site of the Nova music festival at kibbutz Re'im, where almost 400 people were killed when the attack began.
