Our parish is being enlivened by changes

From Fr. Tom’s Desk…

As we enter into the pre-Advent season, the readings have us take a look at things will come to be. They may be hard words for some to hear, and even some will not heed the warnings, but the reality is, is that Jesus is coming. Scripture mentions that even Jesus does not know the time, but He knows it will come to pass. In the first reading there are two types of people, those who will make it to heaven and those that do not. In essence, this is a warning if you will.

In the second readings we hear of Jesus’ singular sacrifice for sins, not just sins way back when but for our sins as well. We must do our part to enter into the sacrament and confess our sins. “Where there is forgiveness, there is no longer offering for sin.” But with each new sin, we must seek forgiveness and reconciliation with our Lord.

In the Gospel we hear about the last time on earth, where things will pass away, but not His words. We are to learn the lesson from the fig tree. Granted that from our past experiences and knowledge, we know of the seasonal changes, of what is coming. We too know that our Lord will come again. Maybe the question remains, like the fig tree, are you ready for the change that will come?

Our parish is being enlivened by changes as well. Our Fall Festival raised over $42,000.00 which will go a long way in helping our wonderful school. Our efforts to begin our Kitchen Remodel fund is off to a wonderful start as well. There are things that we need done and fixed. It takes planning and effort to make these things a reality. I’m reminding you that this is your parish, your Church and that as things need fixing or updates, we need you to do your part in helping make St. Patrick’s the awesome place to worship you need it to be.

I need to establish two counsels, a Pastoral Counsel, and a Parish Counsel to help me in my ministry here at St. Patrick’s. I will be asking certain people to be on these counsels. Let us continue to pray for all here at our awesome parish.
