Pacific Garden Mission, a non-denominational, faith-based rescue mission for the homeless located in an area of Chicago known for decades as "Skid Row," opened in 1877. Every day, six hundred men enter the facility in search offood or shelter. The mission also provides free medical and dental care and vocational training. But the reach of Pacific Garden Mission goes far beyond Chicago. Its message of faith extends into 147 countries in eight languages through the longest running radio drama in history -- "Unshackled!" This unique series, recorded every Saturday afternoon before a live audience, brings dramatized real-life stories to an international audience with actors playing the roles of troubled, lost individuals seeking a path to God.
