This coming Sunday at Plymouth Church
The sermon for May 9, the sixth Sunday in the season of Easter, is titled "The Resurrection Community" and is based on Acts 2:42-47. The church in the apostolic period of the first century was closest to the resurrection event, and clearly came into being because the resurrection proved beyond any doubt to these witnesses that Jesus was indeed God's anointed. The book of Acts is history, but much more than that. It informs, and can transform the church of today if we can understand the powerful message -- and clearly identify those things that we should hold in common with that first resurrection community. The Spirit is always moving to bring revival in us by touching our minds and our affections. The Spirit speaks through the scriptures, songs and loving fellowship of the worshipping community. That is our inheritance from that first Resurrection Community and we need to nurture it. The coming sermon will attempt to do that. Wayne
