IT'S TIME TO BE PROTAGONISTS OF OUR STORY
The Gospel reminds us that
many followed Jesus with the desire to be able to hear his words.
Words that He spoke about the Kingdom of God. Words that touched their souls and
aroused in them the hope of being able to encounter the Father. Although
sometimes the words of Jesus sounded somewhat challenging, many found in
them something new. That awakened them from indifference and
oblivion. Jesus' words seek to make those who hear them protagonists of salvation
history.
This Sunday, the Gospel
(Mt 5, 1-12a) presents a way of being "blessed,” of being "happy."
They are words of truth that should guide the lives of the disciples of
Jesus Christ. Jesus, through the use of very obvious contrasts, shows us
how to get to God. At first glance they might seem difficult, but God makes
a way and transforms everything into a beautiful opportunity to grow in
holiness. IN today's Gospel, the words of Jesus awaken hope and
trust in God. Especially if we are tempted to abandon the path of the
Lord due to discouragement or lack of faith and hope or due to
the trials of life. His words tell us that He knows everything. He knows
about our good intentions and our efforts to do what is right in
order to please God. He invites us not to get discouraged, but to persevere
in doing good as children of God.
