FOR BY GRACEYOU HAVE BEEN SAVED THROUGH FAITH…
Every year Lent is a time of reflection, it is a time to rediscover ourselves where we are with respect to God's desire. Today, the gospel puts the person of Jesus at the center, and us before the person of Jesus.
The letter to the Ephesians (Eph 2, 4-10) reminds us that God's love for humanity is so great that God does not reserve the Son for himself, but is able to offer the Son so that through his sacrifice humanity can find salvation and enter eternity in God. But, as in the past, many of us still resist believing and accepting the person of Jesus as our Lord and Savior. This is because many of us are so distracted by the things of this world. We investing all our effort and time in achieving fame, fortune and power that we forget that there is something more, something greater.
This world tricks us into believing that we will have enough time to leave eternal things for later. Christ and his gospel are not the center of the lives of many, and yet Christ is elevated before everyone's gaze, as Moses once did with the serpent in the desert, for those who know how to look, they can discover the love of God. In Jesus, they can have life, health and holiness. For this Christ was sent and delivered... Not being able to recognize this truth is the cause of condemnation, as today's gospel tells us (Jn 3, 14-21).
I invite you to pray and meditate this Lent with the Way of the Cross, and let us contemplate Christ's sacrifice for us. Thus, before Him, who appears weak and obedient to the Father, we can achieve the grace of knowing how to respond with love and fidelity to the gift that Christ has offered to us all: Redemption.
